The fastest in Poland
Riding the proven, more than 200-horsepower Yamaha R1, in the 2019 season Szkopek again had no equal. In the Polish championship of the most prestigious Superbike class, a motorcyclist from Dobrzyków finished first in six out of ten races, and in the next three he was second on the podium. In this way, he easily reached for the record, twelfth title of the Polish champion, going down in history as the most titled competitor in the country.
But it doesn’t end there. The 2019 season was also marked by further starts in the FIM EWC motorcycle world championship. Szkopek is the most experienced Polish competitor when it comes to long-distance rivalry. The year 2019 showed again that it was also the fastest, which was confirmed by the fantastic fourth place in the murderous 24-hour Bol d’Or race, the pearl in the crown of the FIM EWC cycle. This is the best result of the Pole in the world championship in history.

The fastest Pole in the world …
The road to Bol d’Or had already started two months earlier, when together with his main partner, the Omega Group, Szkopek led the formation of the Omega Maco Racing team. Changing on a Yamaha R1 motorcycle with British James Ellison, a former MotoGP rider and FIM EWC world champion, Paweł became the first Pole in history to score points in the legendary Japanese Suzuka 8 Hours race, considered to be the toughest eight-hour race in the world.
A few weeks later, the Omega Maco Racing team confirmed their starts in the full cycle of the 2019-2020 FIM EWC World Championships, with the iconic 24 Hours races; Bol d’Or and Le Mans, in the lead. At Paweł’s side, joined the team, including . Czech Karel Hanika, former Moto3 World Championship rider and winner of the prestigious Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup. In September, Omega Maco Racing motorcyclists won a fantastic fourth place in front of seventy thousand fans in the stands and millions in front of TV sets, rubbing the FIM EWC podium during Bol d’Or.
It is the podium that remains the goal of Paweł and the whole team during his last start this year, the December 8 Hours of Sepang race in Malaysia and the last three races of the 2020 season; 24h Le Mans and 8h Oschersleben and Suzuka.
In the 2020 season, Paweł will also defend the title of the Polish Superbike champion and race in the European Alpe Adria championship, where in 2019 he missed the title by a hair after an incredibly fierce fight with Hanika. Szkopek will represent the colors of his own new team, supported by such renowned brands as Yamaha, Dunlop and, of course, the Omega Group.
